A Deeper Dive into the Airhead After School Program
You have questions, we have answers. This FAQ takes a deeper look into the specifics of the Airhead After School program, including details for students, parents, and school partners.
For Schools & Educators (Partnership Program)
How can I get the Airhead After School Program at my child's school?
The best way is to talk to your child's teacher, principal, or after-school program director. Have them contact us directly about starting an official Airhead After School program at their school.
We are a school. How does the Partnership Program work?
We are proud to offer the Airhead After School Program, designed to prepare the next generation for the future of technology. Our mission is to make Artificial Intelligence accessible, engaging, and fun.
This is more than a typical after-school club. It's a skill-building experience where participants dive into AI through live demos, self-paced activities, and real-time instruction, all while developing crucial soft skills like teamwork, public speaking, and critical thinking.
Your program would join our live AI Lab, held every Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM ET in a flexible, "hop-in, hop-out" format.
What makes a school a good fit for this program?
We cater to schools of all shapes and sizes! The most important requirement is a passion for teaching students about AI.
We find schools are most successful when they have:
Students ages 9+.
A dedicated space (like a computer room, lab, or classroom) where students can work.
A teacher or staff member to supervise the students.
A waiting list of 20-30 students who are excited to join.
What scholarships do you offer for schools?
To ensure accessibility, we offer significant scholarship opportunities for our partners.
Full-Ride Scholarships: We offer scholarships that cover 100% of tuition for students.
Teacher & Staff Scholarships: We don't want students to outpace their teachers! We also provide scholarships for teachers and staff to join the program and upskill right alongside their students.
Partial Scholarships: Additional partial scholarships are available to cover a majority of program costs.
For Students (Missions & Progress)
My student finished all their "Missions"! What do they do now?
That is fantastic! We post new Missions every two weeks to keep the content fresh. Our Missions are based on feedback from the community and what is important to teach in the ever-changing world of AI.
If your student is done with their current Missions, they can (and should!) dive into the "Airhead Institute Show Replays." This is a great way to learn more advanced topics. We recommend they find a series they like and stick with it.
How is my student's progress tracked?
A student's progress is tracked directly within their personal account. They can see how many Missions they have completed and what they have left to do.
Can parents see their child's progress?
Currently, we do not have a separate "parent dashboard" for viewing student progress. We understand this is an important feature and we will be working on it for a future update.
Technical & Program Requirements
What technology is required for a successful experience?
To get the most out of the live AI Lab, we have a few recommendations:
Device: A laptop or desktop (Windows, Mac, or Linux) is best. A tablet will also work.
Headset: A headset or headphones are required. This is essential for students to hear the instructors and participate without distracting others.
Mic & Camera: A microphone and camera are strongly recommended for the best interactive experience on the Zoom call.
Internet: A strong and stable Wi-Fi connection is required for video streaming and live calls.
Can my child use a cellphone?
Cellphones are not recommended for the Airhead After School program. The screen is too small for optimal use, and students will get frustrated trying to work on their Missions.
Program Logistics
My child's school dismisses late. Can they still join the AI Lab?
Yes! The live AI Lab is a "hop-in, hop-out" session that runs from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM ET. If your student's school gets out at 3:30 PM, they can join then. If they need to leave at 4:30 PM, that is perfectly fine. They can join when they can and stay for as long or as little as they like.
My student is shy. Do they have to participate on camera?
No. While a camera and microphone are recommended, they are not required. We want students to be comfortable. They can participate by:
Turning their camera on and talking.
Leaving their camera off and just using their microphone.
Typing their questions and comments in the Zoom chat.
Just listening and working on their Missions "in the background."
All forms of participation are welcome!
